Get treated: Snoring can ruin a marriage, but an intervention such as CPAP or surgery can make all the difference. Sometimes something as simple as sewing a tennis ball into the pajamas between the shoulderblades can make all the difference. A sleep specialist may know about meds for talking in sleep.

Sleep apnea: Do you know what type of surgery? Was it to correct a deviated septum or enlarged tonsils/adenoids, or turbinates? Or was it to open the airway- uppp? In any event, if your father is still snoring, the surgical procedure didn't work and he needs to see an md and have an evaluation for sleep apnea. He is at increased risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Sleep study: Sleep studies are the most accurate tests for diagnosing sleep apnea, snoring and sleep disorders. If your father has symptoms of sleep apnea or loud snoring, your doctor will refer you to have a sleep study for proper diagnosis and treatment. Good luck.
