Been on like 6 different antibiotics for tooth infection for over a year now. extraction scheduled for this week. been prescribed more antibiotics for after extraction but none for before or during surgery. scared of septicemia can i prevent it?

You do not need to worry so much because the hormones from that is detrimental. The important thing is to probably maintain good oral hygeine until the surgery; avoid smoking. The danger of antibiotics before may be in killing the healthy bacteria and selecting for more resistant ones by the time you have the surgery. Antiseptic mouth wash may also be helpful.

If the nerve of a tooth is infected, antibiotics will not cure the infection or heal the plural tissues that have died. Antibiotics will reduce the spreadofn infection to other organ systems, but will not cure the tooth. It sounds liken your 2 alternatives are extraction/implant/crown or root/canal/filling. Discuss your antibiotic concerns with your Dentist.
