Yes: Occur in 1% of the general population and cause tachyarrhythmias. Local anesthesia with sedation maybe enough. In my center we are using ga safely for ep studies and ablation of atrial fibrillation and nodal reentry supra ventricular tachycardias specially in prolong cases.

Yes: For a pediatric patient a general anesthetic would definitely be used. For an adult it is more likely that a sedation type of anesthetic would be chosen.
