A member asked:

Does precancerous cells/ cervical cancer start in the outside of cervix ? if found inside the canal is it treated the same way via leep or another way since its inside the canal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Most frequently "precancerous" cells (CIN) start in the endocervical canal and spread from that pint outward. However cancerous cells can occur anywhere on the outside of the cervix. CIN III (severe dysplasia) can be treated with freezing, LEEP, or laser procedures as needed.
