A member asked:

Nervous about taking concerta. if i had an ecg 2 years ago and there were no congenital/structural defects and i am otherwise healthy, is it safe to assume heart is still structurally sound?

Yes : If you have a normal echocardiogram 2 years ago and was normal and there is no changes in your history and physical exam. Echo will be the same. Concerta is a stimulant of CNS activity and one of the serious complications is arrhythmias but not a common one. It's use for the treatment of adhd.

Concerta: Probably little has changed as far as your heart is concerned. A ekg is probably not necessary for you to take Concerta safely.

Likely Not: The structure of your heart will almost certainly remain normal--unless you've had a major heart attack or other serious event. Similarly, your ECG has likely remained normal if one was obtained. Discuss this with your physician, but it is likely safe for you to take Concerta if you had a normal echocardiogram and ECG two years ago.
