A member asked:

4yo had 2nd echo to check vsd. they stated her lpa was missing and scheduled a ct with contrast. is the lpa hard to find on echos? could it have been missed on 1st? only possible diagnosis cardiologist stated was sling, absent/closed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The wording suggests the technician who did the study couldn't find it, not that it was absent. If the kid has otherwise lead a normal existence to date he has a left pulmonary artery, otherwise it would have been evident early in life. Smaller VSDs usually close as kids get older . Pleas discuss this with the kids cardiologist.
