The dentist probably elected to temp your two bridge abutment teeth with two temp crowns instead of a temp bridge. You receive a 3 unit final bridge with a pontic that will fill the gap.

Temporary crowns are sometimes bulkier than your natural teeth and/or the final restoration. For there to be a bridge 2 teeth need to be prepared, one on either side of the space where you have a missing tooth. The final bridge will have a replacement tooth crown (Pontic) between the 2 anchor teeth crowns (Abutments). Please review your situation with your Dentist for full explanation.
