Had first half of root canal today; in terrible pain. i was told it would be sore but this goes beyond that. 2nd half is 13 days away. is this normal? also, was told no antibios were necessary in between the procedures. true?

Pain perception varies from person to person. It can be expected that you may have pain after the first visit... after all, the nerve in that tooth was traumatized before the procedure started. Antibiotics are needed if you are infected, if not, no need.
