A member asked:

If endoscopy shows normal esophagus but esophageal brushing culture results show non albicans candida growth, what does that mean?

There are many forms of fungal contaminants of the upper GI tract, and Candida albicans is only one. Your GI physician who performed the endoscopy will provide guidance.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, there is an insignificant amount of Candida in your esophagus, not an abnormal finding in itself. Wish you good health!
