A member asked:

My four year old eats cereal and milk for breakfast, vanilla yogurt for snack, bread cheese, and banana for lunch and plain pasta for dinner, drinks water and milk. his stools are very light brown. is this ok? is the diet the reason? no other sympto?

The stool color is provided by the ultra-green bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the enzymes & germs in the intestines metabolize the bile. This is a normal variation & has little to do with what he eats.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. There is no cause for concern about your son's stool. Please see that he is vaccinated against childhood infections. With you and your son good health!
