I don't think measuring insulin resistance (IR ) would be helpful. Practically, just assume you have some degree of IR. Elevated blood glucose (BG) is what happens when IR is severe enough. Monitoring fasting BG every year is reasonable. Primary treatment for IR is a good diet, regular exercise and weight loss. Further treatment options are considered when BG ( that is, IR ) is elevated.
