Had 0rapid sore throat and pus in throat- started christmas eve- had 875 amoxicillin at home- enough for it to be cut in half and used for 5 days- day 4 feeling better and no more pus- do i still need to go to dr? they have been closed ?

A throat culture is my recommendation. If this is a strep infection, it is incompletely treated. If you're feeling quite a bit better, you probably can avoid being examined, unless your MD insists.
