A member asked:

Why would hospice doctors take my 96-year-old mother with afib and aortic stenosis off of blood thinners and she passed away. what would be the reasoning for that besides worrying about a fall?

Hospice care emphasizes in keeping the dying patient as comfortable as possible. Most medications, either for treating the underlying diseases or for prophylactic purpose, i.e. blood thinner in your mother's case, should be discontinued. I doubt if your mom passed away due to discontinuing blood thinner.

Hospice is a way to let people who are very I’ll die comfortably-usually. Makes sense to stop all meds not needed for keeping her comfortable.
