A member asked:

Asking for my professor: if a liver architecture is altered (due to any chronic liver condition), will the ultrasound detect it?

An ultrasound can give some basic dimensions of the organs they study and relative difference in density. A CT scan would give a more detailed study with the MRI being the most likely to show detail.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. CT and MRI have better resolution than ultrasound. The gold standard for evaluating liver is liver biopsy and examination of the tissue by a pathologist.
