A 60-year-old female asked:
Son, 36, had tsh of 4.76.. all other thyroid results normal, has no symptoms, could that indicate a thyroid cancer? would movement hurt the area if cancer was present? doc did not give meds, said to recheck in 6 months.. should i worry for cancer?

Not likely cancer. Listen to his Dr. Always send normal values for lab tests as they may be different in NY.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, nothing in the information you provided suggests cancer. It would be prudent to follow your doctor's advice. Wish you good health!
