I got stitches on my arm, is it important to take oral antibiotic as soon as i got the stitches to avoid an infection? the doctor prescribed them despite no signs of infection and the wound being clean ps.i took a lot of antibiotics last year?

This would depend on the type of injury, including the chance of wound contamination. Simple well cleaned cuts do not need antibiotics, but complex, deep or those where dirt or debris were removed might.
