A member asked:

I took the same type of antibiotic twice in the past year after getting stitches on two separate occasions if needed by a doctor, can i take the same type of antibiotic or a different type or is that dangerous for making bacteria resistant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotics are chosen for use based on their usual effectiveness pattern, and the site/issue being treated. While taking antibiotics often should be avoided, as it changes your guts' population of bacteria, your chance or creating a resistant germ are minimal. Discuss your concerns at any encounter with the treating doc.
