A member asked:

My thyroid labs suddenly got bad after ct scan with iodine contrast. they did 2 scans and my thyroid has plummeted into hyperthyroidism. id this common? is it permanent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You don't mention whether you're under treatment for a thyroid disorder or, if so,what type. Iodine contrast can affect hypo or hyperthyroidism. Sometimes the effect can be delayed& careful follow-up is important. Your thyroidologist or endocrinologist is best to do this. In this manner appropriate testing & treatment will be obtained.
