Unclear: A high free T4 is a sign of hyperthyroidism. Usually the TSH will be low. Ask your doctor to explain all the test results taken together. Good luck!

Define "normal": Normal lab values are based on what is normal for the majority. However, there is a spectrum. If your normals fall outside that range, they may not show up as early. Hyperthyroidism may also be temporary from an inflammation in the thyroid (thyroiditis). So it make take some time to come to a diagnosis.

Confusion: A thyroid scan cannot diagnose hyperthyroidism, only lab tests and doctor can. Graves' disease is a type of hyperthyroidism. Free T4 is usually not as accurate for diagnosis as tsh. Thyroid "uptake" may have been done with scan and can be elevated for several reasons other than hyperthyroidism, such as thyroid inflammation. See your doctor and/or an endocrinologist.
