A member asked:

I had radio iodine ablation in 2008 for hyperthyroidism. should i still be able to easily palate my thyroid? isn't it dead and atrophied?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It's not "dead": There is still thyroid tissue present, and it may or may not be able to be palpated. The thyroid doesn't just vanish because of radioiodine.
