A member asked:

I started using benzoyl peroxide on my forehead & developed a rash on my neck & chin 24h later? could it be an allergic reaction or something else?

Irritation: The stuff is irritating. Why not get with your physician now and ask about something else for your acne, such as topical clindamycin? If you're a female and can take the oral contraceptive pill, this may clear you up without any other rx. You have many good choices even if you don't tolerate benzoyl peroxide well.

Maybe: Benzoyl peroxide can be harsh on the skin. Some people are sensitive and need to use other products b/c it turns their skin red and makes it dry. In your case it sounds like irritant contact dermatitis, a form of allergic reaction to the medication. Stop using it. See your dermatologist for alternative medications.
