A member asked:

Male, 20 years i had last exposure 3 years ago and recently it just crossed my mind to get hiv checked i did anti body 1 and 2,,.. 3 years later(i.e. now) and the result is negative ,sould i worry about it ??is the test conclusive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A negative result with 4th gen combo test at 3 years following potential exposure rules out HIV infection. However, HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.
