I recently had a hiv antibody blood test with the dr. he asked when my last exposure was. i told him 8 years ago when it was really 6. i had a brain fart. will that time difference matter at all?

No: Hiv antibody test should be reliable 6 months after exposure. Before that time, looking for the virus itself by pcr is more reliable since antibody might not show up early enough. After that, 6 years or 8 years are the same.
