When there is injury to the breast, scar tissue may form both in the fatty areas (fat necrosis) and in the ducts/glands (stromal fibrosis). It is just scar tissue by another name and has no malignant potential. Excisions, since they are an operation done under general anesthesia can have serious complications. Since there is no need in this case, the risks far outweigh the benefits.
