The portal vein size of 1.3 cm (13 mm) is not grossly abnormal and hepatopetal flow is the correct (normal) flow direction (draining to the liver). Yes, portal vein size is bigger in conditions which cause portal hypertension such as liver cirrhosis. You doctor has to correlate your medical history, physical exam, lab results and liver ultrasound findings for the correct assessment.
