My doctor diagnosed me with a bacterial eye infection and recommended an eye patch but from what i know about bacteria is that it thrives in dark and moist areas. should i get the eye patch or not?

Follow your doctor’s advice. Resting the eye is far more important than the theoretical issue you are concerned about. Darkness and moisture will make no difference at all. Good luvk.
