The conjunctiva is the membrane covering the eye which is is direct contact with the tear ducts. Conjunctivitis is an infection that involves both structures.Treating it heals both.Some such infections are viral and self heal, some ore bacterial and benefit from antibiotic drops.You can also have allergic or irritant conjunctivitis that are treated differently.Crying does not cause/mean infection
