A member asked:

Can someone explain follow-up mri findings? short segment syrinx from c6 pedicular level to c7 infrapedicular level measuring up to 1 mm in thickness, better visualized on sagittal sequence on current exam , extent and size unchanged on axial t2?

A syrinx is a balloon like fluid filled expansion found in the center of the spine. The wording places the location and size. It notes that other studies of the same area do not give different results for size/location. What this means in an individual case must be interpreted by the doc who knows all the case facts/exam findings. The size noted is small compared with larger symptomatic syrinxes

There can be many causes of a syrinx, including congenital and acquired. The key issue is whether this is stable or expanding and whether this is causing spinal cord pathology. See a neurosurgeon and discuss potential management as needed.
