Many times the pain originates in the neck, other times is a true headache, occipital neuralgia. If it is becoming rather chronic or worsening seeing your doc would be best in trying to diagnose and treat properly.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If it does not respond to over the counter pain relief and is interfering with your daily activities, it would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
