I have a 9 yr old leg break with tibial rod. ive always had pain, but it has worsened the past six months. it is not constant, but occurs frequently. it originates at break site but radiates throughout the leg. drs dont know why it hurts?

You likely suffer from chronic pain due to the tibial rod and the pain has been exacerbating lately. I wonder if any change in your lifestyle has precipitated that. Try to recall and change your lifestyle if you can identify that trigger. Otherwise, you may need a brief treatment course for chronic pain and then slowly wean it off when pain has improved. I think a redo surgery isn't a good option.

If the rod is the cause of your you must realize that removing hardware from the tibia is not without risks. I'd be inclined to obtain an opinion from an orthopedic surgeon at a university hospital near you for diagnostic clarity and to discuss treatment options.
