A member asked:

Can 1 time alcohol poisoning (below bac 0.35) result in brain damage (not being able to feel endorphin/dopamine in the body anymore) without being a chronic drinker ? (thinking about glutamate excess neurotoxicity for ex?

One episode would not produce meaningful damage. Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it. It will destroy your brain cells, damage testicular cells that make testosterone, facilitate development of cancer in many organs, cause hepatitis, cirrhosis and pancreatitis etc. There is no safe level of alcohol intake. Quit while you are ahead.

Amazing that you can appreciate neurotransmitter absences or excesses. Although chronic alcoholism can cause brain damage such as Wernicke's encephalopathy, a one-time overdose would not cause chronic brain alterations. See both a neurologist and psychiatrist and get a thorough evaluation, and commence appropriate interventions.
