A member asked:

I recently went for spirometry test, which shows normal lung volume pre-bronchodilator, but severly reduced(abnormal) volumes post-bronchodilators. is that a problem? my chest feels tight, can't take a full breathe and x ray shows lung hyperinflation?

Avoid smoke and environmental exposures which may worsen symptoms. If you are a smoker or past smoker, COPD is another possible condition. Pulmonary function results may be provided as % predicted. Hyperinflation indicates possible air trapping. Choking and aspiration may cause discrepancies between the affected lung and unaffected areas. More details would be helpful.
