A member asked:

My white blood count was 11.68 (ref range 3.98-10.04) last month & this month 12.41 (ref range 3.98-10.04). why could it be high? my white blood count has always been lower than that. i've also noticed a small lump in my armpit since july?

The cause has to be determined and should have been addressed by the person who ordered the test when he/she found it was abnormal Yes it could be related to the lump. Have your doc address both.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it would have helped had you provided the differential count. Wish you good health!
