Last week my cousin (53) woke up with a huge lump on his armpit followed by high fever. does this potentially threaten to be a blood cancer?

Armpit contains lymph nodes which can enlarge for various reasons including a Lymphoma provided they persist and grow in size. If she can still feel the lump in the armpit, then she should visit her doctor for physical examination and confirmation of the cause of this swelling. If she still has fever, then it is more urgent to get herself checked sooner than later.

What you described is more likely an infection. Unlikely, but plague needs to be excluded. It is imperative to see a doctor at the earliest for proper evaluation and treatment.
