After an er visit i was given afrin to take for nasal congestion and wasnt told the consequences of using more than 3 days. i have been using it daily since may, what would be the best way to wean off. also, i have full obstruction of other nostril?

Consider Afrin or its generic equivalents as toxic chemicals that cause constriction of capillaries. With extended use, the capillaries are damaged & tissues become swollen & boggy leading to minimal & short effect of continued use. To reverse the tissue damage you must stop, completely. In two to three or more weeks of mouth breathing you may return to baseline

Recommend using nasal Saline spray after stopping Afrin. this often will relieve your nasal or allergy symptoms in the nose and is not damaging to the nose capillaries and tissues
