The oncologist usually decides of the imaging tests needed in order to stage it properly. You have to make sure you report properly your symptoms.

The term abnormal cells is vague and requires clarification by the doctor who gave you the results. If there were abnormal cells on a pap smear then further testing with colposcopy may be indicated. If the cells were from inside the cavity of the uterus then different testing is needed. Don’t be afraid to ask the doctor to clarify the problem and explain the next steps.
