It is possibly because Karo syrup and honey may have contamination with a bacteria that could produce toxin and it is like the botox toxin that could be dangerous for babies. The bacteria is Clostridium botulinum. You may also not want sweet tooth baby to reduce future chances of obesity.

The immaturity of infant intestinal movement makes them more susceptible to the spores of botulism that may be in the product. Before a year of age, we avoid any exposure. When the spores create a colony of germs, they create a toxin that can make baby stop breathing among other symptoms. After a year it is not seen as a risk.

Avoid ingestion of honey at this. age, and after one year in small amounts only until older. Wash hands, clean surfaces and kitchen utensils. A Flu vaccination at age six months or older is recommended for the baby and household members as indicated.
