PEP is an emergency treatment for possible exposure to hiv. If started within 72 hours it should be effective. However, if you're exposed while taking the PEP regimen, I would recommend talking to a public health officer or a specialist in STD's to get instructions on what the best course is. In other words, from the new exposure going forward, a whole new regimen will probably be advised.

My first dose of pep was at 65 hrs (9am) post exposure and it was only truvada. the next day i had truvada at (9am) again and took tivicay at (4pm) and continued to take both at 9 am everyday for the next 30 days. will pep be ineffective?
