Past week had burning after peeing in perineum.negative for uti bacteria. diagnosed with prostatitis given doxycycline 2 daily.i read its only good if bacteria but uti detected none.prostatitis and uti bacteria different? when meds start working?

UTI and prostatitis can be caused by the same bacteria. Generally antibiotics are given for a longer period in prostatitis. Meds start working immediately= relief from symptom depends on correctness of diagnosis, type of infection and site of infection. If not better best to see a Urologist. Drink plenty of water.

I was put on levofloaxcin for prostatitis even tho all UTI test were negative.but the meds seem to be helping the burning after pee I was having in perineum. It cause headaches a lil. Could this be a fix because the bacteria just didnt show?
