What you mean by the "outer part" (thumb [radial] side or pinky [ulnar] side) could help answer this question. The motion you describe would strain the radial side, especially while planking, but the wrist involves articulations between 2 forearm, 8 wrist, and 5 hand bones, held together with ligaments and moved by tendons. You should see a hand surgeon or orthopedist for a thorough examination.

Two most common etiologies are torn triangular fibrocartilage or unstable extensor carpi ulnaris tendon. If it continues recommend you see a hand surgeon, an MRI could be helpful to determine the extent of injury.
