A member asked:

Small central perforation of the articular disc of the tfcc with a small distal radial ulnar joint effusion. is it common to have a lot of painful popping in the wrist and in the hand with this kind of tear?

With a tear in the "articular disc of the TFCC, the radius may dislocated temporarily which causes the "popping" sensation. This kind of injury may require a hand surgeon to repair, since the tear will not heal itself.

Central tears of the tfcc can be a source of “popping” with wrist movement. While central degenerative tears can be common as one ages, if it is causing pain then evaluation by a hand surgeon is warranted.
