Trauma or not?: If your daughter is 14 or less and there has been trauma, then a fracture of the wrist is much more likely than a sprain. A follow-up x-ray can be helpful in seeing a fracture at times when the first x-ray is normal. In the absence of trauma, other diagnoses must be considered such as infection or an autoimmune condition.
