My husband was diagnosed as bipolar the first of january. he is on lithium but still very depressed and angry. his tsh is high but t3 and t4 or normal he's been in bed the last 4 days. says he just wants to sleep. what should or can i do?

Find several issues. Lithium does have thyroid toxicity and may be one answer. Furthermore, in his 80's, he may be suffering from early dementia, and lithium is unlikely to help. Have you considered a second opinion to seek clarification?

Time to seek medical attention, either through his primary care doc or in an urgent setting. While lithium toxicity is possible, a variety of other medical conditions, refractory depression or delirium will have to be ruled in or out.
