A member asked:

I was given a prescription for bactrim for a toe infection that is clearing up. i am allergic to amoxicillin. i hate meds and after googling reviews of bactrim i am so afraid to take it. is this medication something i should be afraid of?

If the infection has not become systemic you can treat the infection locally with foot soaks in warm-hot water, apply topical antibiotic, cover with bandage. Until healed. Once you start taking the Bactria you must complete the prescription to be effective.

Bactrim is in general well tolerated providing you are not allergic to sulfa drugs, stay well hydrated. If healing without antibiotic, let your doc know that you are not taking it due to resolution of your infection.
