A member asked:

I got a 4th generation hiv test at 24 weeks and it was non-reactive. is the 24 weeks considered 6 months and is it conclusive ? any chances the test would miss either antibodies or p24 antigens? i want to move on from this and need closure on this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A negative result at 24 weeks rules out HIV. However, HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.
