A member asked:

Worried about potential asbestos exposure from partially collapsed roof, under 30 mins whilst exploring abandoned building at 17 yrs age. what's the risk? my grandad died from what we believe was asbestos exposure, so i'm very shaken?

Since you can't be certain there even was exposure and at worst it was very brief, this is not something you need worry about. Long term exposure, usually occupational, creates the risk.

I think you risk is low as it was only 30 minutes and a one time event . When we discuss asbestos exposure it is usually in terms of repeated exposure. Do not worry. The monitoring is for those who work in asbestos industries and have repeated exposure. https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/public-health-systems/lho/training/judy/asbestos-factsheet.pdf
