A member asked:

Is there any way to get through a endometrial biopsy in a less painful way? cervical polyp removal was excruciating pain as it was and ive heard this biopsy is ten times worse. im really surprised they dont use any kind of anesthesia for this?

Generally for cervical and uterine surgical biopsies, a regional block with lidocaine is used at 3 and 9 o'clock on the cervix, which considerably removes severe pain during these procedures. Ask your GYN physician if the endometrial biopsy can be done under an epidural or general anesthetic, or obtain a second opinion about the need for the procedure and the anesthetic to modify the pain.
