A member asked:

Can continiungly incrased iron in blood cause heart palpilations? for example if the maxium is 30 mmol/l mine is around 36 to 40 mmol/l. no other symptoms, except 1-2 heart palpilations (feeling like fast/skipped beat) every second day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your serum iron is slightly elevated. Hemochromatosis can cause cardiomyopathy and palpitations, but most arrhythmias occur in the presence of congestive heart failure which I don't think applies to you. A serum ferritin level and serum transferrin saturation level are good screening tests for you. Discuss this with your physician or consult a hematologist for evaluation and advice.
