If the 5 mg pill you take is amlodipine it may increase your heart rate and it won't help palpitation. If blood pressure is normal at home with a valid manometer, you should not be treated. If blood pressure is borderline high at home and out of range at doctor's office, I would treat you with a beta blocker if your baseline heart rate at home is above 70. What are your med and resting heart rate?
