It's not uncommon that it takes 2-4 weeks before valsartan or any angiotensin receptor blockade (ARB) drug to have maximal effect. Valsartan half life is 8 hours so blood pressure may vary a lot when you take this drug initially. Taking a single anti-hypertensive drug in the morning or at bedtime is still a matter of controversy and it has been discussed a lot among specialists in hypertension.
